About US

Our Story

Flotsam’s Circus was created in 2016 when we decided to share our love of all things circus with the rest of the world. We wanted to bring an inclusive space and a real taste of the circus to everyone. We already had plenty of experience so we got ourselves a big top and hit the road. Since then we’ve been on the most amazing journey; We’ve worked with schools to bring circus into the classroom for thousands of children, brought Jester workshops to castles in Cardiff, Beaumaris and Harlech, worked with the National Trust as part of the summer of play, and entertained the crowds at festivals large and small. Our bubbles have floated high with hot air balloons and we’ve brought the joy of the circus to fetes, fairs, parties and more all over the Southwest and beyond. The journey continues full speed ahead and we’d love it to include your event or to welcome you to one of our workshops in the near future.

Flotsam - Doug Bleazey

Doug has been juggling for over 20 years since his Granny bought him some juggling balls for his 12th Birthday. Later, he trained at The Circus Space (now the National Centre for Circus Arts) receiving a BTEC National in Circus Arts. Since then he has worked all over the country, and abroad, at venues including Wembley Stadium, Warwick Castle and a tour of Medieval Festivals in France. He is skilled at a broad range of circus arts but his favourite is juggling balls because of the complex patterns they make in the air.

Doug has an enhanced DBS check for working with children.

Floret - Amber Timbrell

Amber grew up in a creative household. Her parents were children's entertainers teaching history through games and stories. She started teaching circus workshops in 2007 and especially enjoys finding out about the rich cultural history of circus and the skills that she teaches. She enjoys spinning poi and is currently working to improve her repetoire of diabolo tricks.

Amber has and enhanced DBS check for working with children.
